0

The 2023 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference kicked off on June 5, and it’s safe to say it was one of the biggest events ever. The tech giant rolled out updates to iOS devices and new product launches, including a virtual reality headset that will likely make a big splash in the tech world.

Here are the top new additions that stood out to me the most.

1. Apple Vision Pro Mixed Reality Headset

By far, the most talked-about product at WWDC 23 is the Apple Vision Pro, a new mixed reality headset set to come out early next year. While AI technology seems to have monopolized the tech world’s focus, Apple is leaning towards launching a new category of products nearly 10 years after its last big thing – the Apple Watch.

Why would you want to strap a Vision Pro mixed reality headset on your head?

This product merges the real world with the digital world by allowing users to view, listen and interact with digital content as if it were in the same room. You’ll be able to make whatever you’re looking at as small as the computer screen or as large as the size of your room. It comes with a 3D interface that you can control with your eyes, hands and voice, and you can use your fingers to scroll by flicking them or select something by tapping them together.

The best thing about this new product is how you can be notified when someone approaches you when you have the headset on with the EyeSight feature. When you’re viewing your content, the person approaching you will appear in the corner of your view. The headset can send a message that the person can see if you are completely engrossed in something and unable to speak yet.

Once you’re ready to talk to them, the headset will reveal your eyes so the other person knows you’re available for a one-on-one conversation. It’s a pretty weird concept, yet I have a feeling a lot of people want to get their hands on it. The Vision Pro mixed reality headset is priced at $3,499 and will be available in 2024.

2. The Apple 15-inch MacBook Air is now the world’s thinnest laptop

Apple’s first new hardware product introduced at the conference was the 15-inch MacBook Air. With a lightweight and durable design and just 11 mm thick, it’s the world’s thinnest 15-inch laptop weighing just 3.3 pounds. No matter which of the four colors you choose, the 18-hour estimated battery life will keep you going between plug-ins.

It comes with a 1080p camera, six speakers, and four noise-canceling woofers. And the device is powered by the powerful M2 chip. Plus, it’s twice as fast as its predecessor, 25% brighter and has a battery that lasts 50% longer than a PC. The new laptop starts at $1,299 and will be available next week.

3. Macos Sonoma

For those not yet looking for a new MacBook, a new desktop operating software called macOS Sonoma is coming to Mac computers in the fall. This newest Mac software update will give you awesome new screensavers that play in slow motion. You’ll be able to add widgets to your desktop as well as fade your widgets into the background of your screen to avoid distractions while working.

4. New privacy settings

Safari is already one of the best browsers when it comes to maintaining your privacy, and there are going to be more features coming to it by the fall. If you’re using Private Browsing in Safari, it will lock your private browsing windows when you’re not using them and completely block known trackers from loading pages. Also, it will remove the tracking added to the URL as you browse.

Some of the other privacy features that will be introduced include more transparency when it comes to allowing a third-party app access to your photo library and a new tool that allows people to share specific photos with apps while keeping the rest of their library private. Will help to share.

5. Update for AirPods

AirPods Pro (2nd generation) will get a new and improved Adaptive Audio feature that will add transparency and noise cancellation so you can stay present with what you’re listening to while minimizing outside distractions.

You can also take calls on the go and reduce the noise around you while you’re on the phone. Plus, you’ll transition pretty quickly when you switch from listening to music to taking a phone call.

6. Big upgrade for Apple TV

Apple TV is also getting a nice upgrade with access to AirPods settings, home cameras and the all-new Siri Remote Control Finder. You will also be able to change your screensaver on your Apple TV and personalize it with your own images. And perhaps the biggest upgrade is that people can FaceTime their friends and family directly from their Apple TV, allowing them to chat on a much larger screen.

7. Apple watchOS 10

A new version of the Apple Watch is also coming this fall with a number of enhanced and breakthrough features. Some of them include a world clock app that changes color based on the time of day and is easy to switch around and add new widgets.

Cyclists are also in luck as watchOS 10 will include new metrics with Bluetooth settings optimized for active cyclists. There will also be a feature called Functional Threshold Power, which will show you the intensity level for an hour, and Power Zones, which will show you which zone you are in and how much time you spend in each zone to improve. your performance

And perhaps the best feature is Snoopy and Woodstock can be added to your watch face to be more active with you.

8. iOS 17 is coming to iPhones and iPads

The iPhone and iPad will also receive some major upgrades with the upcoming iOS17 software update that is also set to arrive in the fall. There are some great features coming with this upgrade that I am very excited about. Here are the main ones I can’t wait for:

Contact the posters

The Phone app is getting a cool new feature called Contact Posters, where you can personalize how you’re represented on other people’s phones when you call them. You can choose an image, font, and color, and whatever you choose is what will appear on your friends and family’s phones every time you call them. They can also choose their contact poster to display whatever they like when they call you.

Live voicemail

Do you ever find yourself in an important meeting when you get a phone call and you’re not sure if you should answer it or not? Apple is now introducing a Live Voicemail feature, which allows you to leave a voicemail while your iPhone transcribes the voicemail back to your phone in real time. That way, you can read what the person is calling for and then pick up the phone later if you think it’s important.

FaceTime Voicemails

Scary new voice cloning is coming to the iPhone

This is definitely a feature I plan to use when it comes out. Normally, when you FaceTime someone who isn’t available, the call ends automatically and you have to wait for that person to call you back. With the iOS 17 upgrade, however, you’ll be able to record a video message to leave anyone who doesn’t answer your FaceTime call, and that person can watch it later. This is a great idea, and I have a feeling that many will use this feature to leave fun video messages for their friends and family members.

iMessage update

Sending iMessages to your loved ones is about to get a lot more fun. First, if you need to find a specific message, the Search tab within the iMessage app will get new filter features so you can make your search more specific and find what you need faster.

However, the real fun is in adding new stickers to iMessage. Not only will you be able to convert emojis into stickers, but you’ll also be able to convert pictures from your photo library into stickers. You will be able to add effects to your stickers and react to messages sent to you with stickers. I have no doubt that everyone is going to have a blast with this update.

The last feature I’m really excited about with the iOS 17 update is the standby feature. This will allow you to turn your iPhone on its side and get a whole new view that you have never experienced on an iPhone before. You’ll be able to easily see the date and time as you see which widgets you want to see, such as your calendar, last night’s game score, when your food delivery is arriving and more. Plus, it comes with a low light mode so you’re trying to sleep at night.
