Bangladesh: At least 15 people were killed in an explosion in a seven-storey building in Dhaka. According to reports, more than 100 others are said to be injured and have been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Several units of firefighters rushed to the scene to put out the fire following the explosion that occurred at 4:50 pm (local time) today. According to reports, many people are feared to be trapped in the building and the death toll is feared to rise.

The bdnews24 news portal cited the fire service control room as saying that several fire fighting units were rushed to the scene after the explosion, which occurred at 4:50 pm (local time). The cause of the explosion was not immediately known.

The Dhaka Tribune newspaper reported that at least 14 people were killed and more than 100 injured in the blast. The newspaper said the death toll is likely to rise as many people are feared to be trapped in the basement of the building.
Bomb disposal unit of Rapid Action Battalion is going to the spot to inspect the buildings. The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, DMCH Police Outpost J + Spector Bachu Mia said. He added that all of them are undergoing treatment at the hospital’s emergency unit.
The glass walls of the bank were broken by the explosion
The ground floor of the building houses several stores of sanitary products and a branch of BRAC Bank was located in the adjacent building. According to reports, the blast shattered the glass walls of the bank and also damaged a bus parked on the opposite side of the road.
