Bill Maher says COVID ‘dissenters’ are ‘looking pretty good’ following lab leak theory developments

“Real Time” host Bill Maher took a victory lap Friday on behalf of all the Covid “disaffected” like himself during the pandemic.
Following revelations that US government agencies such as the FBI and the Department of Energy are supporting the Covid lab-leak theory and studies showing the effectiveness of natural immunity and the ineffectiveness of wearing masks and lockdowns, Maher suggested that many Americans should feel proved
“I think the people who disagreed are looking pretty good. I was one of them,” Maher said during a panel discussion. “I remember getting a lot of s— from a lot of places.”

Maher mocked a January 2021 Daily Beast headline that read “Bill Maher Pushes Steve Bannon Wuhan Lab Covid Conspiracy.”
“Yeah, it was just Steve Bannon,” Maher repeated sarcastically. “Well, it was, you know, the former head of the CDC, it’s the FBI, it’s the Department of Energy.”
“We don’t know. Like I said, we shouldn’t politicize it. But would you agree that the dissenters are looking better these days?” Maher asked.

Comedian and YouTube host Russell Brand agreed, saying that disagreement is “a great duty on all subjects” while mocking those who are “so desperate to shut down the conversation” that results in an “ironic” avoidance of science. is

“And the problem that I feel we have is that only experiments that were beneficial to certain interests were taking place. Only arguments were being advanced that were beneficial to certain interests. Only rules were being enforced. That were beneficial to certain interests,” Brand said. . “The Wuhan lab leak theory is just one example—Fauci himself was seriously considering that this was the possible origin of the virus.”
“How could that not be possible?” Meher was shocked. “This is a lab in Wuhan where the virus originated that studied the virus and was taking advantage of the function research on the virus. How could it not be?”

Liberal MSNBC analyst John Heileman suggested he always thought the lab-leak theory was possible but blamed former President Trump for “politicizing” it.
“If you go back to that time, why do people assume they’re going to reject the lab-leak theory? Because like everything with Covid, Donald Trump politicized it from day one,” Heileman said. said “His thing in those first two weeks was ‘Kung Flu.’ And it wasn’t just that it started in a lab, but then the Chinese released it on the world, that it was a bioweapon. It was a leak. There wasn’t. It wasn’t at all like there was an accident in the lab. The administration in some case suggested that there was a political interest in making China the villain.”

“So everyone’s supposed to take a bait and switch on a fool like this?” Maher pushed back.
“I’m not for fools, I’m just going to say hey, it’s been politicized. And you’re right, it would have been better if we hadn’t politicized it,” Heileman responded.

The HBO star complained about how tennis superstar Novak Djokovic is still not allowed to enter the US to compete in a tournament because he is not vaccinated despite getting Covid. “There doesn’t seem to be any imminent threat,” he said, quoting a tournament official trying to bring Djokovic into the country.
“The imminent danger of a man playing tennis who has stood alone twice, a sport where you are alone in the middle of a stadium outside in a country where everyone else has already had one. ‘No imminent danger.’ .’ This country is stuck on idiots, that’s all,” said the expert.

Brand lashed out at Heileman for only accusing Trump of politicizing Covid, saying everyone needs to be held accountable.
“It seems that it is not just Donald Trump’s responsibility that this issue has become politicized. When we take up the issue of natural immunity, the efficacy of the mask, it is not difficult to assume that a centralized authority might come under scrutiny. Because of the advancement of technology, because of our media’s ability to communicate, they’re doubling down on dictatorships,” Brand said.
Brand added, “Also, I think, John, it’s hard for us to condemn what we might perceive as the right to politicize this issue when we’re having a reasonable conversation about whether these rules are a substantial amount of are changing in. Time… to somehow stick Donald Trump as the source of the problem. At some point, we have to overcome these differences. Otherwise legitimate political figures who really care about ordinary Americans will find themselves in one party. We are going to lose ourselves. Co-opted by financial interests and military industrial complex interests and unable to give a meaningful voice. Sooner or later, we have to translate those ideals.”
