A Taliban-appointed provincial governor and two others were killed in a bomb blast AfghanistanA Taliban police spokesman told Mazar-e-Sharif on Thursday.

Dawood Muzamal and two other people were killed in an explosion inside the governor’s office Mazar-e SharifAccording to Mohammad Asif Waziri, the capital of Balkh province, the Taliban has appointed a spokesman for the local police chief.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Islamic State group’s regional affiliate, known as Islamic State in Khorasan province, is a key rival of the Taliban.

The terrorist group has increased its attacks in Afghanistan since the Taliban took over the country in August 2021. Targets include Taliban patrols and members of Afghanistan’s Shiite minority.
