The NFL season hasn’t started yet, but it looks like the Comeback Player of the Year award has already been decided.

After being officially cleared to resume football activities, Bills safety Damar Hamlin made an unprecedented move across the board, winning an award at Caesars Sportsbook on Tuesday before being dragged away by the upcoming big bet. -1000 has gone as high as favourites.

DraftKing’s is the only book still offering money on the award, which Hamlin is at -650 to win.

Hamlin announced he was returning to the NFL this season with a statement: “I don’t want to be done yet.”

The excitement for his return is palpable, and those hurdles are a deterrent to how bookmakers believe voters will vote on the award.

If this sentiment is any indication of future voters, it appears likely that Hamlin will win the award.

But it’s far from a lock — Hamlin still needs to make the team and get on the field for the Bills.

However, one can safely assume that if Hamlin makes it through 17 games, the award will be his to lose.
