Dems are intent on rigging the vote again

Gov. Cathy Hochul and fellow Democrats failed spectacularly last year in their attempt to gerrymander voters and redraw congressional district maps. So, of course, they’re trying again this year.

On Thursday, an appellate panel will hear their argument for a special new round of redistricting, claiming that the maps drawn up last year only apply to 2022.

This is nonsense on stilts, of course, which is why the Albany County Supreme Court struck it down.

But this time, the rogue Dems have a plot that just might prove successful – to defame the voters.

Last year, Democrats tried to ram through gerrymandered maps that resulted in only four Republican House seats from New York (out of 26).

That language voters added to the state constitution in 2014 violated language that expressly prohibits nondisclosure.

The courts then threw out their map (natch) and appointed a special master to draw fair maps, which gave Republicans 11 seats instead of four — and helped return the House to the GOP.

Now Dems want another chance to gerrymander, once again in defiance of voters.

And once again, their claim — that last year’s maps need to be redone — flies in the face of constitutional language, this time banning mid-decade redistricting.

Such a move would also confuse voters, many of whom may find themselves in another new district after shifting last year.

Of course, the Dems don’t care; They are determined to crack the maps and lock in Democratic control everywhere.

And this time they’ve got an ace in the hole: an appeals court (the state’s highest court) headed by a chief judge, Rowan Wilson, clearly chosen for his progressive sensibilities.

Far-left lawmakers rejected Hochul’s first choice for the post, Hector Lasalle, because they could not trust him to flout the law and do their bidding. (It’s true: They actually conceded a lot.)

If Dems lose at the appellate level now — and they clearly should — they figure they’ll only get the appeals court to greenlight a new round of gerrymandering that will shut down Republicans again. can do

That is, they rigged the High Court so that they could rig the maps.

The Dems’ one-party rule has plagued New York with high crime rates, rising taxes, sick schools, and more.

If he gets away with his new bid and lockout of Democratic congressional seats, it will not only alienate voters but also help deliver his destructive policies to Washington.
