Minnesota cat named ‘Magic’ needs a new home after tough start in life
A tri-colored tabby cat in Minnesota is hoping her rescue story will end in adoption by a loving family.
Magic, who is about 1 ½ years old, was found wandering in a parking lot in October.
Tony Moshinsky, office manager of the Heart of Minnesota Animal Shelter in Hutchinson, Minnesota, found the cat.
“He was weak, and I could tell he didn’t have much left,” Moshinsky told Fox News Digital. “I used what I had — a sample bag of dog food in the back of his car — to get him to me.”

Magic was about a year old when she was found, Moshinsky said.
While the cat was eager for food, it wasn’t quite ready to interact with humans.
“I threw out a bunch of dog food to keep in his possession, and I went back to the shelter to get a box of wet food and a small dog carrier,” she said.
After the carrier left a trail of wet food, Moshinsky said he waited patiently for Magic to notice — and fall into the “trap.”
“Magic slowly ate its way into the career. And the last jackpot was in the back of my career,” he said.

Once he successfully captured Magic and brought her to the safety of the shelter, Moshinsky said he realized Kitty was “skin and bones”.
Magic was put on a re-feeding diet to make sure she didn’t accidentally eat too much and overwhelm her system, as she was very thin when found.
“She was scared, and even though she allowed to touch, you [could] Tell him he didn’t appreciate it,” Moshinsky said.
Magic was put on a “calm care” supplement; Shelter workers have seen many improvements in his attitude, Moshinsky also noted.

For weeks, “we [were] Spending time with him, talking to him, petting him – and he’s made a wonderful transformation,” she said.
The once fearsome cat now “greets people at her gate.”
Now, once the scaredy cat “greets people at his gate, makes biscuits [kneading with the front paws] in his blanket when you pet him, and even grab your hand with his paw when you stop petting him, as if to tell you, ‘You’re not done yet!'” Moshinski said.
The magic has been enough with her Christmas tree cat bed, which Moshinski said will travel with her after adoption.
Anyone interested in bringing the magic into their home should contact the Heart of Minnesota Animal Shelter at its website (heartofminnesota.org).
