Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Saturday that opposition leaders need to be sensitive and stop politicizing the issue of unseasonal rains affecting farmers in different parts of the state.

The opposition on Thursday walked out of the state assembly demanding that the state government provide immediate relief to farmers whose crops were destroyed by unseasonal rains accompanied by hailstorms earlier this week.

Leader of Opposition Ajit Pawar criticized the state government for not providing comfort to the distressed farmers.

“Several days ago unseasonal rains lashed many parts. We have ordered an immediate assessment of agricultural damage. We have already made it clear that if a farmer clicks a photo of his farm, that picture will still be assessed. will be considered,” Fadnavis. told reporters here.

Accusing the opposition of creating ruckus, the deputy chief minister said, “Have they (the opposition) ever seen an immediate assessment after the rains? We should be sensitive to the situation created by unseasonal heavy rains and And should not do politics.”

Earlier this week, unseasonal rains accompanied by strong winds and hailstorm damaged crops, which were ready for harvest, in several districts of Maharashtra.
