Our nation’s soul put to the test. We must fight the liberal agenda
On April 12, 1861, in my home state of South Carolina, the first shots of the Civil War were fired.
Our country faces a defining moment – will we really be one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all? America’s spirit was tested, and we won.
Today, the exam is taking place once again in our country. Our divisions run deep, and the threat to our future is real.
President Biden and the radical left have chosen a culture of grievance over greatness.
They have chosen fear over faith. They are encouraging victimization rather than personal responsibility, and they are leading our children to believe that we live in an evil country.
Knowing that they are unable to defend their record, when called out for their failures, they weaponize the race to divide us and seize their power. When I fight against their liberal agenda, for example, they call me a prop – a token. Why? I distort their narrative. I threaten their control. The truth of my life refutes their lies.
I was raised by a single mother in poverty. The spoons in our apartment were plastic, not silver, but we believed it. We put in the work, and we had an unwavering belief that we, too, could live the American dream.
I know that America is the land of opportunity, not oppression. I know this because I have lived it. That’s why it hurts my soul to see Biden liberals attacking every step of the ladder he helped me climb.
If the radical left gets its way, millions more families will be stuck in failing schools, crime-ridden neighborhoods and crushing inflation, but not in my eyes. This is personal to me. I will never back down in my defense of the conservative values that make America great.
We are built on a foundation of faith, but faith is waning, and religious freedom is under attack. Many Americans have lost faith in each other, and many have lost faith in themselves. I will always defend Judeo-Christian foundations and protect our religious freedom.
Believing in capitalism and trade does not mean we allow Communist China to violate our sovereign borders, steal our intellectual property and dominate vital supply chains. I will stand with Communist China and restore opportunities for hardworking Americans to thrive and prosper.
Fight for Ed. selection
Instead of a child’s future being at the mercy of his or her zip code, I will fight to give every parent a choice in education so their children have the best chance in life.
Instead of hiring thousands of new IRS agents, I would hire more Border Patrol agents and protect our country and our neighborhood streets.
I testify that America can do for anyone what it has done for me—take a poor boy from the home of one parent and allow him to serve his neighbors in the United States Senate.
But we must face the challenges of our time. This is a battle we must win, and it will take belief. Faith in God, faith in each other and faith in America.
