Two people were killed and six others injured after a shooting at a house party in Douglas County, Georgia on Saturday (local time), CNN reported, citing local police.

Officials said the shooting stemmed from a confrontation at a house party.

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) asked the public to share information about the attacker because details about the incident are “very limited,” the agency said in a news release.

Injured partygoers were seen in neighboring yards after the shooting, according to CNN affiliate WXIA, an American local television station in Atlanta.

The homeowner told WXIA that they held a Sweet 16 party for their daughter and chose to end the party at 10:00 p.m., claiming some attendees were smoking marijuana.

It’s still unclear whether adults were present at the time of the shooting, which the owner told WXIA happened in a cul-de-sac outside the home, CNN reported.

The DCSO said the incident remained a “very active investigation”.
