Australian all-rounder Grace Harris turned the tables and gave the UP Warriors a victory that looked almost impossible to achieve. In the third match of the Women’s Premier League, Team UP got their campaign off to a flying start by defeating Gujarat Giants by 3 wickets on Sunday. On the other hand, Team Gujarat suffered their second consecutive defeat in the tournament when they lost to Mumbai Indians by 143 runs in the opening match. Grace Harris 59 (26) and Sophie Ecclestone 22 (12) turned the momentum to seal victory in a nail-biting thriller at the DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai.

Batting first, Gujarat scored 169/6 with Harleen Deol’s 32-ball 46. On the other hand, Kiran Navagire’s 53 (43) steadied UP’s innings after their top order collapsed. The tilt of the match was towards Gujarat for a long time but the situation changed completely during the last 3 overs. In the last over of the game, UP needed 19 runs to win and also lost 7 wickets. But Harris took the match away from Gujarat with his excellent performance standing on the field with Ecclestone.

The last over looks like this –

In the match, Gujarat Giants captain Sneh Rana won the toss and decided to bat. Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone took 2 wickets each and Anjali Sarwani and Talia McGrath took 1 wicket each for Team UP. Chasing a target of 170 runs, the UP Warriors team did not get off to a good start. The team lost 7 wickets to score 105 but in the end Grace Harris’ magical 59 turned the tide of the match and UP defeated Gujarat.
