Wife of Okla. police chief arrested for sexually abusing teen

The daughter of an Oklahoma mayor and wife of the town’s police chief was arrested Thursday for allegedly touching a 15-year-old student she met while substitute teaching, according to a report.
Emma “Delaney” Hancock, 26, is accused of ending an abusive relationship in October 2022 after she texted a Wellston Public School student asking for a copy of a school assignment, an affidavit said. News received by 9 states.
Several weeks later, the boy allegedly sent a shirtless picture of himself via Snapchat to the substitute teacher.
“Are we sending half naked pictures now?” Hancock replied.
The young man replied: “I don’t know, are we?”
“Are you trying to make me lose my job?” Hancock reportedly said.
The documents allege that the teacher and student began exchanging nude photos and sexually explicit videos before engaging in two separate physical encounters.
The filing alleges the boy was teaching in the Hancock classroom during his lunch break. They kissed inside classroom cupboards and the teacher is accused of groping the teenager during at least one meeting.
Superintendent Mike Franz told the outlet that the misconduct was reported to the school district in November.
Hancock was immediately banned from campus and reported to the police.
Several Wellston residents told the outlet that Hancock Mayor Paul E. Whitnah is the daughter and wife of Police Chief Alfred Hancock.
Due to a conflict of interest, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is handling the case, Lincoln County Sheriff Charlie Dougherty said.

Hancock was charged with soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor using technology and two counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 16. He was released on a $50,000 bond.
Neither the town of Wellston’s police chief nor Hancock immediately responded to requests for comment.
