Mumbai Indians women have registered their first win by defeating Gujarat Giants by runs in the first match of Women’s Premier League. Mumbai captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 65 runs off just 30 balls and gave her team a target of 208 runs.

Batting first, the Mumbai Indians team scored 207 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. In reply, the Gujarat team collapsed for only 64 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur was instrumental in Mumbai’s win as she had a strike rate of 216.67 and hit 14 fours in the match. He was also selected as the player of the match for this game.

Coming out to bat in the first match of WPL 2023, Mumbai Indians got off to a poor start as they lost their first wicket for just 15 runs. After 10 overs, the team scored 77 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. After this, Harmanpreet Kaur came on the field and defeated all the bowlers of Gujarat Giants. Apart from Harmanpreet Kaur, Haley Mathews scored 47 runs and Amelia Kerr scored 45 runs for Mumbai.
